CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Paul Sciria, the gravel-voiced legend of Cleveland television news who built a successful second career in print and public relations, died Friday. He was 88 and a resident of Mayfield Heights. The cause was apparently a heart attack, according to his family. Short, with heavy-rimmed glasses and an unmistakable voice, Sciria became as prominent as most anchors after becoming the first full-time street reporter in Cleveland television in 1957. He said it was "a job I never app..

    Returning for another helping
Photo by Courtesy Joe Crea By JOE CREA As I was saying, leaving your job isn't the same as retiring, right? Maybe I should back up a bit. A few weeks ago, when I stepped down as restaurants and dining editor for The Plain Dealer, in my farewell column, I wrote that I wasn't quite ready to shelve the keyboard and toss out my pen. What I didn't expect was to climb back into the saddle so quickly. Here I am, all the same, a new contributor to Crain's Cleveland Business. As a freela..

Corey Kluber's 13 strikeouts go for naught as Cleveland Indians lose ...
CLEVELAND - Here is baseball at its simplest. If you don't score, you don't win. One more thing, if you don't score and you don't throw the baseball where it's supposed to go, the loss hurts even more. Especially when it comes at the cost of your best starting pitcher. The Indians lost to the Twins, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon despite getting a season-high 13 strikeouts from Corey Kluber. In scoring two runs against the pitching staff with the second-highest ERA in the American League in 18 inni..

Cleveland Browns have Terry Talkin' about a bad rap for fans, front ...
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Are Cleveland Browns fans only the 26th best in the NFL? Only if you believe the Kansas City Chiefs' fans are the worst. Mike Lewis and Manish Tripathi of Emory University Sports Marketing Analytics have been ranking the NFL's best fans for years. They do it based on attendance, social media engagements, ticket prices, road attendance, etc. Throw all that together, and the Browns are 26th. And the Chiefs are ... dead last? I love going to games in Kansas City. It's like a col..
